How Mercari fees work

For listings created or updated on or after January 6, 2025, Mercari charges sellers a 10% selling fee on the item price plus any shipping the buyer pays. Mercari states that "no separate payment processing fee will be applied" for these listings. The buyer separately pays a 3.6% Buyer Protection fee, which does not come out of your earnings.

Older listings that have not been edited since January 6, 2025 keep the previous rules: no selling fee for you until you update the listing (the buyer pays the old fees instead).

Other Mercari fees

  • Instant Pay: $3 per transfer to an eligible debit card. Direct deposit is free.
  • Cancellations: 5% of the item price (max $25), only for frequent cancellations.
  • Mercari Authenticate: $5 when used.

Common questions

Does Mercari still charge 2.9% + $0.50?

Not on listings created or updated since January 6, 2025. That processing fee now only applies to older, unedited listings, and the buyer pays it.

Does Mercari charge the fee on shipping?

Yes. The 10% applies to the item price plus shipping paid by the buyer.
