Fees checked October 21, 2026 against Etsy's official pagesHow Etsy fees work
| Fee | Rate | Charged on |
|---|---|---|
| Listing fee | $0.20 | Each listing (renews every 4 months, and after each sale of a multi-quantity listing) |
| Transaction fee | 6.5% | Item price + shipping + gift wrap. Not on sales tax for US sellers. |
| Payment processing (US) | 3% + $0.25 | The gross order amount, including shipping and tax |
| Offsite Ads | 15% (12% for shops with $10,000+ sales in the past year) | Item + shipping, only when the sale comes from an Etsy ad; capped at $100 per order |
| Currency conversion | 2.5% | Only if your listing currency differs from your payment account currency |
Shipping labels bought on Etsy are deducted from your balance at the carrier rate; enter yours as "your shipping label cost". Optional subscriptions (Etsy Plus $10/month) are not included.
Offsite Ads, the fee that surprises sellers
If a buyer clicks one of Etsy's ads for your item on another site and buys within 30 days, Etsy charges an Offsite Ads fee on top of everything else. Shops under $10,000 in yearly sales can opt out; above that, the fee is mandatory at 12%.
Common questions
How much does Etsy take from a $20 sale?
With no shipping charged and 7% sales tax: $0.20 listing + $1.30 transaction (6.5% of $20) + $0.89 processing (3% of $21.40 + $0.25) = about $2.39, or 12% of the sale. Offsite Ads would add $3.00.
Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?
Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee and Offsite Ads include the shipping you charge, and processing includes shipping and tax.
